Once

Once

Tonight I went to see Once which was part of the Kilgore Film festival. This little gem of a movie was so good that I almost hesitate to describe it. This Sundance World Audience Award Winner stars Glen Hansard, a real life singer song-writer for the Irish band The Frames and Markéta Irglová, a Czech musician and song-writer in her first acting role. The subtle chemistry between the two is so innocent and funny it’s reminiscent of the old Hollywood musicals. Neither character’s name is ever revealed but you will leave the theatre feeling you know these two. Brilliantly directed by John Carney and on a tiny budget to boot, this film begs to be seen more than once.

Trying to get a sitter now so we can go see it. This is the one flick I really want to see on film.

Hurry, Jen. It’s only there through Saturday.

Crys – this is the film I asked you if you had heard of on our way back from Austin. I had seen a review of it and then saw the soundtrack in Waterloo Records when we were in there buying my Cold War Kids Cd. I haven’t gotten a chance to see it myself. I am glad to hear you enjoyed it. I wasn’t sure if it would be your type of movie but I thought it would be right up my alley. I love those character driven indie films.
