Last night my book club, Between the Covers, met for a fall dinner party. We all cooked recipes out of Southern Living Magazine. The food was incredible and we dined alfresco as the weather here turned slightly cool. The dinner started out with Sweet potato soup with rum cream. This was followed by beef fillets with cognac-onion sauce, pistachio risotto with saffron, and a cabbage salad. Much wine was consumed as you can see from the photos. I especially liked the Big House Red from Randall Grahm. For dessert we had a chocolate almond torte with almond liqueur infused whipped cream and a pumpkin trifle. Can anyone count how many recipes had alcohol in them? I spent half the next day in bed!
