Anyone who knows me knows that I’m not particularly athletic. If I was a spice girl, I would never be sporty spice. In my elementary school p.e. class I was never picked first when we divided up for teams. The furthest I’ve ever run was a mile, and that was when I was on diet pills in 1994. You get the picture so I’m just gonna say it. I’m training for a 5K run.
It all started when a client of mine told me about this website called Cool Running. She told me that the site has running programs for all levels of runners including one called the Couch-to-5K that prepares you to run three miles in just two months. I thought it sounded intriguing so when I got home I fired up my laptop and checked out the site. In addition to the running programs and training tips, there are message boards where runners can interact and share information. The Couch-to-5K training program looked amazingly easy. Even better, you only have to train three days a week.
I’m now starting week five of the training and I feel great. When I told B. what I’m doing, he said, “three miles isn’t that far.” I wanted to kill him. Now I just have to find a race in the area. There’s The Mayor’s 5K fun run and walk on December 8th in Dallas. Does anyone want to go?
I started the Couch to 5k a couple summers ago … thankfully i got pregnant and “had to discontinue the program”. Probably not but I did. My theory was always … “Bear … ok I will run, otherwise I think not” Now I just want to be in good shape, if running will do it .. bring it on … umm come summer
Good luck! Most people that run seem to really love it.
Doing a 5K run is on my list of things I want to do in life before I die. I am like you in that I am not at all sporty or consistent. You go Ms. Crys!

Um… no, lol. But, I wish you the very best of luck. I had no idea you were running. Color me impressed.
