Dexter update

 Season 2 Finale

For those of you missing your prime time tv shows because of the writers strike there was some good news this week. CBS is going to begin airing 12 episodes of Dexter on February 17th. This is the first time a broadcast network will program an entire season of a premium cable series and I think it’s a great idea– creative, well written shows for free? What’s next, Entourage airing on ABC? Color me happy.

That news would sound slightly better to me if I had not just been informed by a very good friend that I was about to get season 1 on dvd ;)

Boooo writers strike! Just give them their damn money already and let us watch some television!

That’s good news, but I really want The Office to come back. Give the writers what they want!!!

Hmm… I suppose it’ll be interesting to see how CBS handles Deborah’s potty-mouth and the overall subject-matter of Dexter’s extra-curricular activities (although in general I suppose they’ve been fairly tasteful about it so far).

But you can get away with a whole lot more on Showtime than on regular TV. I remember recently being a bit taken aback (I subscribed to Showtime again last September, after about a two or three year hiatus) that they now include adult language and nudity even in their promos in prime time (like their latest promo for “the best sh*t on TV,” which includes a chorus of “Holy Sh*t” over snippets from various shows).

Anyhow, the show I’m waiting for now is Battlestar Galactica, which comes back for the final season in March. If this writer’s strike delays my BSG fix, I’m personally going out to Hollywood and getting medieval on somebody with a rubber hose and a phone book (can’t damage them too much, since they still have to write the last episodes, which excludes the blowtorch and pliers approach)….

I’m an Office fan too….and LOST. Bring back my LOST. Jaaaaack!
