Pizza pizza

My friend, Jen, has the best ideas and she told me recently that she makes home made pizzas for her family using her bread machine to make the pizza dough. I told her that I would love to try that if I could ever find a bread machine. Not long after that, she sent me an email and said that she had located a FREE bread machine on Freecycle. I was amazed that she had located one so quickly and that it was FREE on top of that. The lady that gave it to me said that it had only been used twice (I thought you only said that when you were selling something).

So, Friday the bread machine made dough while I was at work. I had B. take the dough out to rest when it was done mixing, and I made two large pizzas when I got home. Our favorite was the four cheese.

Crusty Pizza Dough

  • 1 1/3 C water
  • 2 T olive oil
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 2 C all purpose flour
  • 2 C whole wheat flour
  • 2 tsp yeast

Place water, oil, salt, flours and yeast in the bread machine pan in the order listed. Make dough on the dough cycle. Remove dough from the machine and roll into a  rectangle or circle. Place on a baking sheet and turn excess under, forming a crust on the edges. Brush very lightly with olive oil. Top with pizza sauce, cheese and other desired toppings. Bake in a preheated 500 degree oven for 5 to 10 minutes, or until crust is brown and cheese is melted.

I don’t know why the sight of that pizza startled me as much as it did.

But gold dang, that looks REALLY frigging good. Enough to even make me consider eating dairy products again.

Maybe it’s the size of the image. LOL.

More about this freecycle? How far did you have to drive to pick it up? I threw 4 things up on Craigslist and just got a nibble on the Mr. Potato Head but no sale yet. Nervous about giving out my address. Is that odd?

Vanessa, I always meet up with people in a public location. Most people are nice, but there are a few weirdies out there now and again.

How cool! I’ve heard about freecylce and I think it’s a great idea!

Oh….a bread machine….mine died a few years ago and I’ve been so lonely….and have learned to make pizza dough the “old fashioned way”.~~sigh~~
I have a recipe that is similiar to yours….sometimes I feel a little ‘crazy’ and will throw fresh rosemary…or sprinkle some Italian herbs in the flour…yummmmmmmmmy~~~~~!!!
    Yours does look delish!!! :-)

Vanessa, I definitely would NOT give out my home address just to be safe. The lady I interacted with asked me to stop by her work and it was right on my way to work, so it worked out great.

    Do you deliver?

Fabuloso! That looks excellent. I will say that, I have the CPK cookbook and make their dough in a badass stand mixer and it rocks. The recipes look similar. I will dig out my bread maker and try it!

Whenever I make bread in it, I always accidentally bake the “foot”. I don’t think that this will be an issue with the pizza…

OH MY GOSH … that looks so yummy!
I am so going to try that!!!!!!
    I am hungry!

sniff . . . sniff . . . I took Jen’s advice on the pizza dough and my husband stuck frozen pizza’s in my cart at Sams. The kids cheered.

“But mine are healthy! I tried so hard. I was saving money. I froze 4 things of dough already made in the freezer. Mine taste better”

My whole family opted for the frozen cardboard CRAP!

I almost made pizza last night. Which means I cheated and got a pre-made crust and put my own toppings on it. Delish, but I really want to make my own dough.
